A most delicious street seafood dinner. Lemongrass is magic. And $6 for dinner and beers even more so. Did I mention this was an amazing day?

Happy Birthday MCA.
don’t know how to do this in a tweet or post or whatever, you know…
honor someone who gave so much as a friend, musician, father, activist, and artist.
Approaching all with that crazy Yauch focus, drive, compassion and humor.
Happy Birthday my brother. We miss you.

We did lots of packing this weekend. And part of that packing is unpacking the boxes we stashed away in our storage closet when we first moved in here 6 years ago. One of those boxes contained my “Shoe Archive.” There you would find shoes that I loved and wore at some time past, but which for one reason or another I could no longer wear. They were special enough that I held onto them, thinking that at some point my daughters might like to play dress-up with them, or wear them for Halloween, or even just wear them for fashion.
I remember wearing the Minnie Mouse shoes to work a few times. They were utterly impractical, and poorly made - if you look closely you can see that the strap is held on with staples and tape - but I loved them. Not as much as I loved the white boots. They were all about the blue lining. The sandals looked great on, but were tough to walk in. The wide platform forced a gait that I don’t believe I could call anything but awkward.
The oxford mules, though, those were my faves. When I pulled them out today, I gave them a nice shine and thought seriously about taking them on our trip. They’re comfortable, go with everything, and are easy to slip off for TSA. Yes, they’re a little bulbous at the toe (as my daughters were quick to point out), but of course you need room in the toe box.
Maybe a new pair of laces and a new heel would reincarnate them for a bit.
If you have a favorite archived shoe, I would love to see it!
This has nothing to do with anything
but I just really want these shoes. I’m trying to rationalize buying them for our trip. Surely they’re comfortable. I love walking on wood. Look at how versatile they are! And when I get tired of the ribbons they come with, I can find more ribbon! Or fabric scraps! Tulle!
